Fortnite’s Use of Hip-Hip Dance Steps as Emotes (Interview with Marketplace Tech, an NPR Podcast)

By MERLYNE JEAN-LOUIS, ESQ.

I recently was featured in an episode of Marketplace Tech, an NPR podcast. I spoke with host Molly Wood about copyright law and Fortnite’s use of popular hip-hop dance steps, like the Milly Rock, as emotes in their video game. The episode also covers the In My Feelings dance challenge (created by comedian Shiggy) and comments by Chance The Rapper.
